Michael Pollan boils eating better down to only one simple rule – eat all you want as long as you cook it yourself!
Fast food companies have become SO good at blending indulgent combinations of fat, salt and sugar – much more than you would ever use in your own kitchen. When they are combined properly they are incredibly addictive. Pollan uses the word “cravability” to describe foods like french fries and sweet treats that are very labor intensive to cook ourselves. Fast food restaurants make them so available and cheap that they go from being special occasion treats to everyday meals.
Easy solution – eat all you want of any food as long as you cook it yourself!
